Lasers

Lasers - What is it?
• Laser is a form of concentrated light energy
that is focussed to a specific wavelength
• Lasers are used safely in many branches
of medicine, for example laser vision correction;
to crush kidney and gallstones, to name just a few.
Lasers- How does it work?• The pulsing light is aimed at the area to be treated, for example in laser hair removal it would be at the hair follicle
• The particular wavelength of light is preferentially
absorbed by the target tissue, like melanin or haemoglobin.
• This in turn produces thermal effects in the target tissue while the rest of the skin is protected. A Sapphire DualChill tip cools the skin during this process.
• A series of 6-12 treatment sessions may
be needed though improvement may be noticed after
just one
• Each treatment session may take 15 -30 minutes
depending on the treatment area
• The Healthy Skin Clinic uses the aesthetic
laser Soprano
®XL, a state of the art diode laser which
is virtually painless and very effective for hair
removal
• For all other laser and Intense Pulse Light
purposes, Lumina laser/IPL machine is used.
